Good day buddys! IF you haven’t already make sure you read Kama’s blog today. She has an amazing one today! I had already planned to share some wisdom from this book Streams in the Dessert with you. The author is Mrs. Charles E. Cowman.

Paul, denied of every comfort, wrote the above words in his dungeon. A story told of a King who went into his garden one morning,and found everything withered and dying. He asked the oak that stood near the gate what the trouble was. He found it was sick of life and determined to die because it was not tall and beautiful like the pine. The pine was all out of heart because it could not bear grapes like vine. The vine was going to throw its life away because it could not stand erect and have as fine fruit as the peach tree. The geranium was fretting because it was not tall and fragrant like the lilac; and so all through the garden. Coming to a heartsease, he found its bright face lifted as cheery as ever. “Well,heartsease, I’m glad amidst all of this discouragment, to find one brave little flower. You do not seem to be the least disheartened”. “NO, I am not of much account, but I thought if you wanted an oak,or pine,or a peach tree,or a lilac, you would have planted one;but as I knew you wanted a heartseas, I am determined to be the best little heartseas that I can”.

Others may do a greater work,
But you have your part to do;
And no one in all God’s heritage
Can do it so well as you.

They who are God’s without reserve,are in every state content; for they will only what he wills,and desire to do for Him whatever He desires them to do;They strip themselves of everything,and in this nakedness find all things restored a hundred fold.

Now don’t run around naked and wonder why you aren’t content!! I hope this might bring peace to someone today!

We really are what we are supposed to be. All have our own purpose!!

a bit discouraged

Good morning and Happy Monday!!

The weekend went well for me. I wasn’t perfect but I did ok and am down 5 pounds from the start. Saturday I rode our stationary bike for 40 minutes and burned over 800 calories. I tried riding yesterday and only could do 14 minutes. Should I be just doing 15 a day to start? Ugh. Our bike has the rotating arms also and as of yesterday I’m having spasms by my left shoulder blade. It hurts a lot to just take a deep breath. I had my hubby look at it this morning cuz it still hurt so bad and he thinks maybe I have a rib out of place. How can my body be this stinking fragile? If it were summer I would just walk but it’s like 40 below here in sunny Minnesota! (with the wind chill) the thermometer on our computer says only -18 degrees. Maybe I should register for a fitness class at the college. I saw a walking fitness for life class, it might not be too late to enroll. I believe I will need a phys ed or health class to get my AA anyway. One way or another there’s hope. I still work at Curves too. Just not sure I should be doing that until I recover from the next surgery. I so look forward to be able to do what ever I want to work out. Wish I would’ve taken advantage of my more youthful body!!!!
I better look into that class. Plus, see if I should get my back looked at since it’s so painful.

You guys I did something quit painful last night. I looked in the mirror, really looked and saw all of the excess my poor body has been carting around. When I started feeling healthier mentally (after post partem depression, chronic depression and Thyroid problems) I had no idea how good I could feel until I started to feel better. I bet the same goes physically when a person loses the weight. If this fat were cancer I would do whatever I had to do to try to get better. This fat is causing problems in my life and all I have to do is stop eating wrong! I know it’s not that easy but my point is that it is this important. it is this important.

So, I’m going to try to remember the feeling I had when I took a real look. It wasn’t a feeling of pity or fear but of the realization that I am the only one who can change this.

Honesty

I was down a pound today but not because I behaved last night!! Procrastination (I’ll start on the first of the year) I gave in to once again. It’s over and done. Everything that I shoved into my mouth though, I really thought about so that’s a step right there to be getting on the right track. How easily we can slide. We have to be honest with ourselves don’t we. This is the only way to really understand what got me to this 200 plus state! One major change that has happened to me since I’ve gotten to know our Lord is that I’m not a victim of this weight. Choice after choice has been made that got me here. I’m not angry but a bit sad that my health has meant so little to me. I still remember when it was all about how I looked!! It wasn’t that long ago either! We can see how much gets done through vanity now can’t we!! This time it’s about my family, about being a mommy, and a wife. People actually depend on me now! Just some thoughts for the day! My resolution for this year is to live a healthy life. Spiritually and physically to live a good life!! I thank God for all of the blessings around me. I hope this year brings all of you the same gifts of love and friendship that have already been granted to me!

Well, there’s no very good excuse as to why I haven’t been around but I can tell you I’m getting more round!!
This is my heaviest weigh in ever in my history here at Buddy Slim. Boo hoo..
No whining.. No regrets… Time to look forward, stop eating bad crap and move on!!!

Last weekend, I had stabbing killer pains in my belly. Turns out I have a hernia near my navel. The surgeons nurse should be calling one of these days to schedule my H&P with my Doctor and I’ll have a hernia repair in mid to end January. October 24th of this year I had my gall bladder out.
Feeling a bit broken. Knowing that getting my weight down will be very important in maintaining my heath. Maybe this is what it’s going to take for me to realize that my obesity is really affecting my health!! UGH………….. It’s been one thing after another all of which are complicated by my weight. The good news is that I’m not taking everything so serious. If these things would have come up a year ago I would have totally freaked!! The Lord doesn’t make mistakes. I trust Him so I don’t have to worry. I could use some weigh loss support though!! Working out may be a problem for awhile but I have to stop this madness!! The worst part is that I still don’t know why I am so over weight!! I’m going to keep my eyes on the Lord this time instead of on myself. This will make the difference I’m sure of it!!

Hello pals!
It’s already been 3 weeks since I had surgery. The first week was the worst followed by the second being irritating because I had no patience and wanted to just be better. Now I’m feeling pretty healthy just still very tired! I’ve worked out twice and am just getting an appetite back.
I ended up being scheduled for surgery the morning after my pre-op appointment because I was getting so sick. Glad it’s over that’s for sure! My gallbladder was infected but no stones. My hubby and I spent our anniversary (the day after surgery) with his parents at the casino. We had fun but I”m sure I paid for being too active too soon. By that Monday I was miserable. I bet I was still running on anesthesia all weekend! I must have because I hardly remember what we did all weekend!

BE HEALTHY

Hi friends! I even have some new friends who I have not yet met! I took a break from dietville and have started losing some weight. Ironically instead of feeling healthy I’ve felt sick! One more path of irritating illness to get through! Next week I’m having my gallbladder out. This might be why I’ve felt crappy for some time! Fever, chills belly pain! I do hope that this will be it! I automatically blame any sickness on depression or anxiety. Yet, I’m not feeling depressed or anxious! I know that worrying isn’t trusting God and I’m just done with it! Our health is so very affected by what we eat and do. Why does it take me so long to believe it? We have to take care of our bodies. No one else can do it for us. Obesity contributes to so many health problems. Just 30 pounds puts us at risk. If you’re like me, I knew I was over weight but” not that bad”. Yea, right! I’m not as fat as when I was on bed rest holding 40 pounds of fluid with a baby in my gut!
he he, I’m just starting to understand my old way of thinking. I also see why there are some of you buddy slimmers who only have 10 or 20 pounds to lose and are concerned. I used to look at things only esthetically when that’s a piss poor reason to want to be healthy. Some minor health problems that have not allowed me to”feel good” after knowing how it feels to “feel good” (exercise, energy to keep up with life). When that’s gone, it sucks. I am 5-3 216 pounds. There is no way that this is being kind to my poor body! Now that I really know this, I’m excited to feel better and exercise regularly again. There is no guarantee that we will get the chance to “get healthy” again my friends. We have to just do it.
So, here’s to you!! GET HEALTHY………. while you still can!! After I recover from surgery I’m coming back to kick my own butt! It’s not just about pounds and inches though, we have to keep our insides healthy! there are consequences or rewards for our choices.
I know I have to remember that. Now I’ll get off of my soap box.

Hey guys! I’ve been working more hours at curves for 2 weeks now. I feel great! At least 3 work outs per week! I swear I just can’t sit still for very long at home!! The days are flying by. I’m nor losing any weight in fact I’m gaining but I know that muscle weighs more than fat. One of our members yesterday complimented me said my face was looking thinner. Anyway, now I get home at 7:00, clean up the family’s dinner mess and then by 8:00 I’m ready to eat dinner! I have to quit this right now. I’m sure this is why the scale is going up instead of down. My energy level is through the roof! I even stay up until midnight watching TV. I used to go to bed shortly after the kids did! I feel like I”m finding a very nice balance in my life. I know a huge part of this, (if not all) is because I’ve gotten to know the Lord. It’s way easier to remember what’s important and whats not. I used to be such a worrier!! I hope everyone is doing well!! I know I don’t get on here as much as I used to but I do think of you!!

he he for real!! I’ve taken a day of R&R today. I saw my Pain dude Doc in St. Cloud today. I got some more steroid injections in my low back to help with my Stenosis pain. The good news is when he was checking out my low back and SI area he said ” have you lost some weight?” Of course this made me happy!! You know my dedication is like a roller coaster but I do believe that I’ve made a positive life change. I am becoming more and more content with my life. The week days are becoming as busy as the week ends. Mom’s Club has been such a treat. I have a couple pals that I usually see weekly now. We weigh in. I bring my scale in my bag where ever we’re meeting!! Dorky huh!! Well, I hope everyone is doing Super!

Bad Girl

Huh, actually I’ve been a good girl but I thought it would be fun to say. I’ve just been a bad team-mate to my Rock Stars. I have to make a bigger effort in taking this weight loss seriously. The scale moved in the wrong direction but I was measured on Thursday and I had lost 7 pounds and 4 3/4 inches. I’m gaining muscle!! My back has been giving me grief again so I”ve been taking it easy. I will be walking though. I have to go now, I have 5 kids today instead of 3. My nieces are staying with us. I’ll post pictures when I can stay up late enough to have the time!!!
